Experiments with macro photography

This is a recent shot of an orchid flower. It was taken with my new custom, DIY macro setup, including an old overhead projector, a tripod, my Canon 40D and my new Canon EF 100mm macro lens. It’s amazing how objects come to life when lit from below. And the sharpness of the lens came as a surprise even with high expectations.
